This one is "different." I found it hard to follow for a while because it sometimes moves from present to past without making it easy to know which is which. But I do think it was worth reading because it gave me insight into post-rape life and how children/teens perceive safety/danger and support/authority figures. Nice portrayal of a friendship and the paradox of life/death.Product details

AN EClipsE eBook Elizabeth Ellis Reviews
Elizabeth Ellis threaded together experiences of friendship/companionship, trauma, clarity, control, lack of control, and decision in a way that leaves the reader feeling viscerally connected to the story.
I hold tremendous respect and gratitude for Elizabeth's writing style; she adds texture in a way that made me feel like I was truly at the boarding school (where much but not all of the novel is set) and could see through her eyes and feel what she felt when she with her ailing father and with Danjuma. There was also an untethered honesty in the way she wrote about the trauma that she and her friend Liz endured and how it informed their decisions and motivations later on.
I recommend that readers read the novel twice - the first time to feel it and the second time to process it. More importantly, I simply recommend that you read this work of beauty!
